7. Why does SVG’s coordinate system have the Y-axis pointing down?

· Why a problem?
o SVG angles go in opposite direction to what is taught in textbooks
· Other technologies that were discussed in the working group:
o PostScript and Flash have a regular cartesian coordinate system (Y-up)
o HTML/CSS and Java2D have inverted coordinate system (Y-down)
· The vote: 5-4 in favorite of Y-down
o Note: Macromedia voted Y-down even though Flash is Y-up
o (Those 5 need people need to apologize)
